TfL’s fleet safety work to be presented at conference

TfL’s work to improve fleet safety will be one of the topics explored at the LRSC’s centenary conference, which takes place in January 2017.

The presentation, ‘A Road Map for Safer Trucks’ will be delivered by Glen Davies, freight & fleet programme manager at TfL, and will cover the progress made through TfL’s ‘Safer operations, Safer people, Safer vehicles and Safer supply chains’ approach.

The conference, ‘Safer cities, safer futures’, will take place at the Guildhall in the City of London on 24 January 2017.

Glen Davies is the second confirmed speaker for the event, following the announcement of Dr Mike Esbester, who will discuss accident prevention in London since 1916 and take a brief look at the LRSC’s history.

Having joined TfL in 2007, Glen Davies has been responsible for developing and managing the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), and the award-winning Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety (CLOCS) initiative.

The conference agenda is currently under development but will will include presentations by academics and road safety professionals and cover topics including cycling, pedestrians, shared space, motorcycling, 20mph schemes, HGVs and ‘driverless cars’.

The conference is primarily intended for road safety and active travel professionals and elected members with an interest in road safety.

The delegate fee is £95 for attendees from the public and third sectors and academia, and £145 for others (both prices plus VAT). The fee includes a drinks and canapés reception which will follow the conference and will feature an address by James Cracknell, LRSC President.

An exhibition will run alongside the conference, with prices starting from £495 plus VAT.
